The first gameplay footage from Assassin’s Creed Destiny, a cancelled project developed by Tencent subsidiary TiMi Studio Group, has appeared online. The material was found in portfolios belonging to developers who worked on the game.

Most of the footage comes from a prototype made in February 2025. The project was cancelled at an early stage of development.

A Qin dynasty palace mission

The game was set in 206 BC, nine years after the events of the mobile title Assassin’s Creed Jade. In the shown mission, a female assassin attempts to reach a mysterious artefact inside a sacred palace surrounded by forces led by the Chinese general Xiang Yu.

The prototype includes stealth assassinations, parkour and the series’ Leap of Faith. An early boss encounter also shows the assassin fighting Xiang Yu.

Test material includes an umbrella-shaped weapon, ink-painting-style ability icons, a health bar and a decorative yin-yang symbol.

Separate animations show a male character attacking enemies with parkour. This may point to a choice of protagonist gender, although the source notes that the character could have been a temporary development option.

TiMi restructuring preceded cancellation

MP1st reported that Destiny was cancelled shortly after TiMi Studio Group announced a restructuring. In January 2025, the studio divided its work among four teams, each focused on separate projects.

Other cancelled games mentioned by the publication include Athena, a third-person adventure based on Greek mythology, and Invictus, a stylized open-world cyberpunk action game. Development of Invictus ended after TiMi’s Montreal studio closed in February 2026.

The cancellations came amid Tencent’s strategy shift. Reuters reported in 2024 that the company planned to rely less on major Western franchises and refocus developers on China’s domestic market and casual multiplayer games. Assassin’s Creed Jade has not been cancelled, although Ubisoft has not announced a release date.
