Apple plans to introduce new products on Tuesday, October 13. Marketing chief Greg Joswiak announced the date; the event will not follow Apple’s traditional format, though selected media members have been invited to New York.
Media visits are scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. New York time, or 1:00 p.m. UTC. Other announcements may be issued through press releases.
A home hub with a display
Expected products include a home hub with a 6-inch display in two versions: one for wall mounting and another designed for use with a half-dome speaker base. The device may run a version of tvOS that Apple could call homeOS.
The hub is expected to show calendars, widgets and other personalized information, control compatible smart-home devices and answer requests through Siri. Its camera and presence sensors may identify which family member is nearby; the camera could also support video calls and video playback.
The hub’s expected starting price is around $350. Apple is reportedly considering homes with several hubs.
HomePod mini and Apple TV updates
The HomePod mini may receive new colors, a faster processor and an N1 chip supporting Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread. New Siri artificial-intelligence features are also expected.
The Apple TV 4K is reportedly due for a faster chip, more RAM and the N1 chip. Possible configurations include an A19 or A19 Pro processor and 8GB or 12GB of RAM; expanded Siri capabilities are also expected.
A second launch on October 27
Apple plans another product launch on October 27, focused on new Macs and an OLED iPad mini. The tablet is expected to gain an OLED display, improved water resistance and a faster chip, but it may also cost more.
Other possible products include an OLED touchscreen MacBook with a thinner, lighter design and M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, as well as a 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M6 chip before the end of the year. The source says some model names and specifications remain uncertain.
