Apple website hints at Siri AI support for second-generation HomePod
Apple’s website showed possible signs that Siri AI support is coming to second-generation full-size HomePods. The company later replaced the relevant images, leaving unclear whether the material was an error or an early announcement.
Apple’s website showed signs that Siri AI may be coming to second-generation full-size HomePods. The changes were spotted by the user pdfu on the product page.
The Siri examples used Siri AI’s gradient style, while the glow in the images matched Siri’s appearance on the new HomePod mini 2. Alt text for one image also described a “multi-colored Siri AI glow on top.”
Apple later replaced the images. That does not establish whether the material was an error or an announcement published before the company was ready.
Siri AI arrives on HomePod mini 2
The HomePod mini 2 keeps the previous model’s design but adds refreshed colors and replaces the S5 chip with an S10. The new chip enables Siri AI, which will not be available on the first-generation HomePod mini.
Full Siri AI support depends on pairing the speaker with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad. In that setup, HomePod mini can use a user’s personal context to help find information in the moment.
The Siri AI update for HomePod mini 2 will also arrive later rather than at launch. If full-size HomePod support is confirmed, Apple could announce it at the same time.
Apple has not said whether the first-generation full-size HomePod will receive the feature. The available clues appear to point at least to second-generation models, but the company has not confirmed that.
