Apple has opened the 2026 Designers of Tomorrow exhibition at Hôtel de Maisons in Paris in collaboration with Design Miami. Curated by Rodman Primack, the project focuses on emerging designers and the theme of presence.
The exhibition features Salem S. Charabi, Isabel Rower, Yoonjeong Lee, and Parafernalia, founded by Genki Matsumura and Sebastián Zorrilla. Their works reconsider everyday objects and encourage sensory engagement with space.
Four works explore presence
Charabi presented The Emergence of Light, a lantern made from banana paper, palm fronds, and a limestone base. He used a MacBook Pro to model the construction.
Rower created Padded Chair 1860, a glossy chair lined with ceramic beads. She said the beads’ sound turns sitting into a more attentive encounter with the object; her process also involved iPhone, AirPods Pro, MacBook Pro, and Keynote.
Lee presented New Form, a composition of worn pencils transformed into nails. Its wooden base doubles as a table and lamp and contains approximately 5,000 thin veneer sheets; the designer also used iPad Pro, Apple Pencil, iCloud, AirDrop, and Notes.
Parafernalia created MonoAmbiente 1, an acid-etched stainless steel object that unfolds into a table and stools for two people. The studio, working between Monterrey and Mexico City, used iPhone, iPad Pro, Messages, FaceTime, and Procreate to exchange sketches and collaborate remotely.
Jury selected the participants
The participants were chosen by a jury including Alexandra Cunningham Cameron, Fabien Cappello, Jennifer Dunlop Fletcher, Minjae Kim, Hun Chung Lee, Marion Mailaender, Nifemi Marcus-Bello, Jennifer Roberts, and Apple’s Molly Anderson. The selection focused on storytelling, material innovation, and craft.
Primack said Apple products form a common thread across designers’ disciplines, cultures, and workflows. The exhibition is being held for the second consecutive year and shows how digital tools can support the creation of physical objects.
