Apple unveiled Apple Home Collection, a new lineup of smart home accessories developed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. The products include cameras, thermostats and a smart lock.
Availability begins in December, although some accessories will not arrive until early 2027. Apple said the devices can be set up with one tap on an iPhone and managed in the Apple Home app without separate apps or accounts.
LG cameras record at 2.5K
LG’s lineup includes four cameras capturing video at up to 2.5K resolution. They recognize people, familiar faces, pets, vehicles and packages, while video history is stored in a supported iCloud+ plan without a separate camera subscription.
The cameras work with an Apple HomeView, HomePod, HomePod mini or Apple TV 4K home hub. Apple Intelligence features provide automatic summaries of recorded footage and natural-language search; both require an eligible iCloud+ subscription and compatible Apple devices.
Smart lock adds Ultra Wideband
LG’s Smart Deadbolt Lock supports Ultra Wideband and can unlock automatically when someone approaches with a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch configured with a home key. It also includes a PIN pad, a concealed backup-key slot and alerts for doors that are opened, closed or tampered with.
All accessories support Thread. The lock also supports Matter and Aliro, allowing its core access functions to operate locally without an internet connection.
Thermostats and data protection
LG and Schneider Electric thermostats can adjust temperatures automatically based on whether people are home, preparing for bed or away. They can use temperature and humidity readings from sensors placed in different rooms.
Apple said data in the Home app is end-to-end encrypted, so neither Apple nor its partners can access it. The listed products include the Schneider Home Smart Thermostat Room Sensor, starting at $39.95. In the U.S., Apple also plans to offer professional installation through ADT for an additional fee starting this fall.
