Apple TV has announced that its Fleetwood Mac documentary, “Fleetwood Mac: The Chain,” will premiere on January 29, 2027 (UTC). The film is directed by Frank Marshall.

The documentary will tell the band’s story through memories and interviews with Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. Apple TV describes it as the first fully authorized documentary about Fleetwood Mac.

The band’s history and new footage

The film will cover the period from the musicians’ meeting in 1974 through the present. It will include previously unseen footage and new exclusive interviews.

It will examine the band’s recordings and tours, its internal and external conflicts, the members’ personal resilience and each musician’s contribution to Fleetwood Mac’s work. Apple TV says the band has sold more than 220 million records worldwide.

A full trailer has not yet been released, but Apple TV has shared a short teaser. The documentary will join the platform’s music-film catalog, which already includes projects about the Beastie Boys, The Velvet Underground, Billie Eilish, Louis Armstrong and Bono.
