Apple TV has acquired global streaming rights to Dustfall, an Australian crime series starring Anna Torv. The series is scheduled to premiere on the platform in 2027.

Dustfall will air in selected territories overseas before its global Apple TV debut. It is the second recently acquired third-party series to join the service.

Apple TV expands its licensed catalogue

Since launching in 2019, Apple TV has primarily relied on original programming rather than following the streaming industry’s broader licensing model. Earlier exceptions were mainly children’s projects connected to Apple originals and films available for limited periods.

The platform also recently acquired the British comedy series Small Prophets, which premiered on Apple TV after the company bought its rights during the summer.

Like Small Prophets, Dustfall was created by an international production company. The acquisitions mark a shift away from Apple TV’s strictly originals-focused approach, while the service continues to emphasize its own productions.
