Apple Pay adds four features as Walmart begins US rollout
Apple has added four Apple Pay features in iOS 27, including a redesigned checkout and American Express rewards redemption. Walmart has begun rolling out Apple Pay in Arkansas and says support will reach all US stores by the end of this year.
Apple has added four Apple Pay features in iOS 27: a redesigned checkout, American Express rewards redemption, Tap to Share for in-store purchases, and direct balance management for supported debit cards.
The redesigned interface lets users swipe between cards on the main Apple Pay screen or open a grid showing every available card. It also displays details such as rewards, balances and pay-later options.
American Express points at checkout
A new Apple-American Express partnership adds a “Use Rewards” option for online and in-app purchases. Membership Rewards points can cover all or part of a transaction; 10,000 points are valued at $70 when redeemed through Apple Pay.
Tap to Share for store purchases
Tap to Share extends Tap to Pay on iPhone. Customers can tap a participating merchant’s iPhone to securely share email, shipping-address, loyalty-program and other information.
The iPhone can show basket items in real time, helping shoppers check discounts and sales before completing payment with Apple Pay.
Customers at select banks will also be able to add money to supported debit cards directly in Apple Wallet or during checkout.
Apple Pay starts Walmart rollout
Walmart began rolling out Apple Pay and broader contactless-payment support in Arkansas this week. The retailer says all US stores will support it by the end of this year; Sam’s Club is included in the initiative.
iOS 27 became available to everyone last week and can be installed through the iPhone Settings app.
