Apple announced that Tap to Pay on iPhone is now available in eight additional Latin American countries: Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama and Peru.

The service allows merchants to accept in-person contactless payments with a compatible iPhone and supported payment app. No separate card reader or payment terminal is required.

### Platforms named for Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic

Apple identified six payment platforms supporting the regional expansion. In Costa Rica, they are Geopagos, Symbiotic and Visa Acceptance Solutions; in the Dominican Republic, they are Azul and Visa Acceptance Solutions.

The company said Tap to Pay on iPhone supports contactless debit and credit cards from major payment networks, including American Express, Mastercard and Visa. The supplied list does not name individual platforms for Argentina, Colombia, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama or Peru.

### Service now covers 59 countries

Apple first announced Tap to Pay on iPhone on February 8, 2022, for the United States, with Stripe planned as its first payment platform. The service has since expanded to 59 countries and regions, and Apple’s current list includes more than 100 payment service providers worldwide.
