BYD has unveiled the flagship Atto 8 electric crossover at the Paris Motor Show. The seven-seat model is the company’s first vehicle for the European market to use its second-generation Blade battery and Flash Charging system.
The crossover measures 5,040 mm long, 1,996 mm wide and 1,760 mm high. Both versions use a 115 kWh battery, while the stated range reaches 652 km under WLTP.
Two versions with different performance
The Atto 8 Design RWD uses a 456 hp (340 kW) rear motor and reaches 100 km/h in eight seconds. The all-wheel-drive Atto 8 Excellence AWD produces 764 hp (570 kW), cuts the sprint to 4.6 seconds and has a shorter range of up to 602 km.
Design RWD has a 10-speaker audio system. Excellence AWD adds a 21-speaker DiSound system and a front refrigerator.
Flash Charging cuts charging time
BYD says the battery can charge from 10% to 80% in five minutes, and from 10% to 97% in nine minutes. At −30°C, charging from 20% to 97% takes 12 minutes.
The cabin includes a 2.39-square-metre panoramic glass roof, a 10.25-inch instrument display, a 26-inch head-up display and a 15.6-inch central touchscreen with Google Built-in.
The front seats and outer second-row seats offer heating, ventilation and massage. Luggage capacity is 270 litres with all three rows in use, rising to 1,960 litres with the second and third rows folded; a front compartment adds 136 litres.
BYD has not announced European pricing. Regional sales are scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2027; the source expects the UK price to be slightly above £47,995.
