Russian attacks kill one in Ivano-Frankivsk region and injure three in Kyiv region

A Russian attack killed a security guard in Ivano-Frankivsk overnight on October 9. The city mayor, Ruslan Martsinkiv, said the strike involved a Shahed drone; Ukraine’s State Emergency Service also reported the death.

The strike set a building and dry grass on fire. Emergency workers extinguished the blaze.

Three people were injured in Russian attacks in Kyiv region. Warehouse facilities were attacked in Bucha district, while emergency power cuts were introduced in Kyiv’s right-bank areas and the region, DTEK said.

Overnight attack with 136 drones

Ukraine’s Air Force said Russia launched 136 attack drones overnight on October 9, including 93 jet-powered drones. By 08:00 Kyiv time, Ukrainian air defenses had downed 114 drones, 77 of them jet-powered.

Strikes in other regions

Guided bombs struck Zaporizhzhia on the morning of October 9, killing one man and injuring five people, regional governor Mykhailo Semikin said.

In Kharkiv, a nighttime strike hit the top floor of an apartment building and injured a woman. Regional authorities said 17 settlements had come under fire over the previous day and three people were injured.

In Dnipropetrovsk region, one woman was hospitalized in moderate condition. Russian forces attacked the region more than 30 times with drones and aerial bombs, damaging private homes and cars.
