iFixit tears down iPhone 18 Pro, flags display-frame damage in three of four phones

iFixit has published a teardown of the iPhone 18 Pro, examining its variable aperture, cooling system and under-display Face ID infrared camera. The display’s plastic frame was damaged in three of the four phones opened, though iFixit says it is too early to know whether the issue is widespread.

  • iFixit damaged the plastic display frame in three of the four iPhone 18 Pro phones it opened.
  • The variable aperture has six blades, and a failure would likely require replacing the entire main camera assembly.
